About the job


  • The Sustainable Finance (SF) Senior Communications Officer is primarily responsible for ensuring that media, staff, and other external stakeholders receive compelling, influential messages that embed support BNP Paribas objective to be a leader in sustainable finance

  • They will execute cross platform communication across web, social, media, and internal owned channels

  • They are also responsible for liaising with CIB Company Engagement and Group Communications and assisting in the arrangement of cross-territory sustainable finance communications


Your Main Activities Are


  • Participation in the integration of SF Comms with SF Marketing for more impact through aligned and focused initiatives, covering (i) Thematics, (ii) Campaigns and (iii) Marketing Material

  • Specific focus on managing communications around the Low Carbon Transition Group (LCTG)

  • Deploy a communication strategy on sustainability and D&I in Portugal, through Social Media, events and training materials

  • Lead the continuous improvement of marketing material for the Sustainable Finance teams online and offline

  • Commission and manage the design of sustainability visual material for different platforms (internal/external/online/offline) from the Design Services and Strategic Marketing

  • Curation of the videos produced on sustainability

  • Business Planning, Management & Strategy
    • Support CIB Company Engagement, CIB Strategic Marketing & Communication and banking teams with a specific focus on LCTG through leading on communication campaigns about Sustainable Finance initiatives, client deals, awards, related events, and engagement projects together with relevant internal stakeholders

    • Contribute to defining and developing the CIB SF MarCom strategy, look to continually strengthen our offering, increasing our client impact and enhancing our reputation. Clear identification of key objectives, strategy, tactics, potential risks, industry opportunities, gap analysis and measurable KPIs

    • Align communications strategy to Sustainable Finance business priorities whilst taking into consideration at all times the Bank?s 4 key pillars and mutualise where possible, aligning with a ?One Bank? approach

    • Strategically monitor key sustainability trends in media relations to stay at the highest quality levels in terms of ideas and delivery

  • Communications Management
    • Lead on strategy, planning and execution for sustainable finance communication campaigns in collaboration with CIB and Group communication teams

    • Lead on briefing internal stakeholders about sustainable finance trends, commitments and sector updates related to client deals

    • Ensure the appropriate use of digital communication levers and promote data driven communication mindset within the team

    • Lead and oversee the delivery of SF campaigns, ensuring that all activities are engaging, impactful, measurable and aligned with the business priorities

  • Coordination with other teams / business areas
    • Closely collaborate with other communications professionals, CIB Communication and Engagement teams, and local Corporate Communications teams: relaying strategy and planning, exchanging best practices and ideas, etc

    • Look to systematically gain market intelligence on sustainability and sustainable finance from outside BNP Paribas

Profile and Skills to Success


  • 5-10 years of experience in Communications

  • MA or MBA degree in Corporate/strategic Communications, Marketing, International Relations, Economics and Management combined with related professional experience

  • Extensive understanding of sustainability concepts with a focus on climate topics

  • Fluent in English

  • Strong internal relationships and understanding of how communications works across platforms

  • Ability to understand and analyze client output

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines under time pressure

  • Ability to promote team synergy and motivation

  • Solid knowledge of the client departments

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, able to come up with solutions and overcome obstacles

  • Attention to detail - methodical approach to work

  • High level of numeracy

  • A cooperative worker, diplomatic, assertive, able to manage senior stakeholders and to deal with strong personalities

  • A self-starter, proactive, creative and ?hands-on? team player

  • Ability to remain calm in highly pressurized environment

  • Flexible and Open minded

  • Basic understanding of finance and economy topics (preferable)
