A research position for one Bolsa de Investigação is opened at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the internal project DiaPreReApp. This project is funded by FCT/MCTES through national funds and when applicable co-funded EU funds under the project UIDB/50008/2020.

Admission Requirements:Research grants are intended:

• for students enrolled in a degree-conferring course to carry out R&D activities with the aim to consolidate their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the attainment of the respective academic degree or completion of the course (integrated or not in R&D projects).


• for students enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree but which are integrated in an educational project of a higher education institution and are developed in association or cooperation with one or several R&D units.

In what concerns the admission requirements for this research grant in particular:

• Candidates must be enrolled in a doctoral program in the areas of or non-conferring academic degree course in the areas of Computer Science, Networks and Information Systems Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar.


• It is valued prior experience in logic programming, RBS, Android programming and gamification;


• Good spoken and written English skills;


• Social skills will also be appreciated as there will be interaction with patients and health professionals.

Work Objectives:The tasks to be undertaken will involve:
evaluate the possibility of running the algorithms developed (or part of) in a smartphone environment;

given the prediction, use the Rule Based System (RBS) to provide probable reasons for the forecasted event and advise the patient accordingly;

acquire real-data from selected cohorts of French and Portuguese patients through a mobile application;

validate the predictive algorithm with the cohort of patients;

evaluate or predict patient?s engagement with the application.

A fellowship will be celebrated according to the regulations defined by FCT, ?Regulation of Instituto de Telecomunicações? fellowships? and ?Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação?, according to Law no. 123/2019, dated August 28 (Status of Scientific Research Fellow), in its actual redaction, and also by Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P. Place of work:
The work will be developed at Instituto de Telecomunicações at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, under the supervision of Professor Pedro Miguel Alves Brandão.

Duration:
6 months, with the possibility of renewal. Start date: November 1st, 2021 or soon thereafter.

Monthly salary:
1104,64? according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Selection criteria:
C1 (60%)

Curriculum evaluation with the following criteria:
a. Master degree in the area (Computer Science, Networks and Information Systems Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar) 5 points; Master degree in related area ? 2 points;

b. Research experience in the area logic programming and Android; (1 to 5 points according to duration and relevance to call).

c. Publications in the area of the call (1 to 5 points according to relevance to call).

C2 (40%)

Interview

Each criteria, and the final classification F will be evaluated in a scale (0-20). The candidates will be ordered according to:

F = C1 x 60% + C2 x 40%

In case of a tie, the tied candidates will be ordered according to C1, then C2...
