Sanctions Compliance Officer

About the job
Level B is responsible for reviewing all alerts escalated by Level A and is composed of two sub-levels, which collectively carry out a 4-eyes review of escalated alerts. Level B2 is located within the Compliance Departments and is the first level of Compliance Control.
Your Main Activities Are
Based on the information and documentation provided by B1, B2 will assess the transaction, conduct further investigation as needed and make a decision to whether release, reject/return, block/freeze or escalate to Level C based on the escalation matrix.
Ensure a follow-up on the alerts that have been assigned and ensure the treatment with taking into consideration existing cut-offs, prioritisation rules and advise in case the transaction cannot be handled in a timely manner
In case of doubt on the disposition of the alert, seek guidance from the team or other Corporate Compliance teams
Report any issue (technical, process, among others) or make proactive suggestions to improve processes and tools
Keep a communication flow with other Compliance teams involved where either an action is required (escalation, rejection, requests for information)
Follow up on developments on sanctions, embargoes and related KYC / AML / CFT / Sanctions laws and regulations and exchange with onshore teams (Compliance B2, back office and B1, GFS, among others)
Contribute to handle transactions according to procedures
Actively participate in the controls and reporting tasks, as well as providing feedback and improvements
Profile and Skills to Success
- Experience in banking industry in the area of Financial Sanctions and alert analysis process and related issues (either in Operations / Back Office or in Compliance) is a plus
- A good understanding of financial markets and operational processes and flows (overall payments activities, securities and cash) is a plus
- English and French fluency (mandatory, both oral and written communication)
- Knowledge of other languages such as Italian, Ukrainian, Russian, Dutch will always be considered a distinguishing factor
- Excellent communication skills (e.g. ability to provide arguments for a decision in a clear and synthetic manner, present case studies?)
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality
- Able to work with remote teams across multiple locations
- Excellent team spirit and with a cooperative sense ? Risk oriented profile with strong analytical and investigation skills, strong attention to details
- Rigorous, well-organized with a structured and logical approach
- Be able to adapt himself to work in different work environments (office, remote...)
- Attentive to details and with a good critical mind-set
- Flexibility and adaptability ? be able to adapt to new working contexts and able to react in a fast way to new challenges (changing between markets or provide task force)
