Tasks

Covalo is looking to add a highly talented and motivated Full Stack Developer/Engineering Lead to work hands-on in developing our product as a full stack developer, as well as to lead the engineering team. As one of the first lead engineers you will play an integral role in managing and guiding the engineering team as well driving execution and team development.

You will...

• Be a pioneer by contributing to an innovative marketplace and SaaS for the consumer goods industry


• Work hands-on and collaborate with the product management team to steer the planning and implementation of new features to build out our platform


• Work closely with the engineering team to ensure engineering efficiency and guide the team to continuously improve and scale delivery


• Make technical decisions together with the engineering team that support reliability, security, scalability, quality and performance goals


• Evaluate current technology decisions and engineering practices to improve better execution and delivery


• Help build, lead and hire a strong team of software engineers who are all critical thinkers and hands-on doers


• Be the main point of contact between the engineering team and other teams in product management, marketing, sales, partnerships and business development areas


• Encourage an open, collaborative culture with a drive to constantly meet or exceed Covalo?s user?s expectations


• Set expectations within the engineering team and with other teams such as sales and marketing


• Establish team objectives in alignment with business goals and understand how to make cost-benefit recommendations in terms of feature development planning

Requirements

• 5+ years software engineering experience and ideally 2+ years in a people management role within a start-up or dynamic, fast-moving business


• Expert level of understanding of modern frontend technologies such as React, Typescript, Node.js, NGINX, testing frameworks (such as Enzyme, Jest, WebdriverIO), Responsive SPA and hybrid rendering with Next.js, and have a deep understanding of the tradeoffs between different frontend frameworks


• Familiarity with backend technologies including Java, Spring Boot, JUnit, MockMVC, JPA/Hibernate and PostgreSQL


• Experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana


• Knowledge of AWS and cloud-native architectures


• Experience with agile software development methods (Scrum & Kanban), continuous integration (CI) as well as continuous deployment (CD), DevOps, Docker


• Can lead and motivate engineers to deliver on a fast-paced schedule and can communicate with product management, marketing, sales, and business teams


• Ideally experience building (B2B) e-commerce, marketplaces and/or SaaS solutions


• Entrepreneurial, growth mindset and driven, hands-on attitude that takes full ownership of work and aims to exceed customer expectations


• Team player with high integrity and ability to work independently with self-motivation


• Excellent communicator with experience managing remote teams


• Detail-oriented and a problem solver with flexibility to adjust if things change


• Passion for sustainability and the green movement


• Interest in the Beauty industry and/or other consumer goods sectors


• Fluency in English is a must - further languages are beneficial


• Bonus would be experience in Beauty, Food, and/or Home Care industries
