Instituto Nacional de Engenharia Biomédica (heinafter INEB) is opening a call to award a grant for the development of R&D activities by PhD?s with less than 3 years of post-doctorate, within the project Bio2Skin Advanced: Desenvolvimento de uma nova geração de adesivos médicos com propriedades Anti-sépticas, Regenerativas e de Adesão, para prevenir e/ou tratar lesões da pele provocada pelo uso de adesivos médicos convencionais (NORTE-01-0247-FEDER-047225), financed by ?Programa Operacional Regional do Norte ?. Host Institution: INEB ? Instituto Nacional de Engenharia Biomédica, Porto, Portugal. Scientific Area: Bioengineering. Project Title: ?Bio2SkinAdvanced: Desenvolvimento de uma nova gerac¸a~o de Adesivos com propriedades Antisse´pticas, Regenerativas e de Adesa~o para prevenir e/ou tratar leso~es da pele provocadas pelo uso de adesivos me´dicos convencionais?. Workplan: The work will be carried out within the scope of Tasks 2.1 and 2.2 of the project. Specific objectives include: 1) Production and characterization of the Bio2Skin range of adhesives through the incorporation of bioactive compounds. 2) Evaluation of the release profile of bioactive compounds from Bio2Skin adhesives. Part of the work may be carried out at the company BestHealth4U, Lda (Braga). Admission Requirements: Mandatory requirements - candidates should hold a PhD?s with less than 3 years of post-doctorate in Bioengineering, Materials Engineering or Polymer Chemistry and related areas. Preferential requirements - Advanced knowledge in chemical modification of polymers, polymer characterization techniques (physicochemical/ mechanical properties), and drug delivery. Excellent English communication skills. In the event the doctorate degree was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, said degree must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law no. 341/2007 of 12 October, and all formalities established therein must be complied with at the signature of contract. The Doctorate beneficiary of this type of fellowship cannot exceed, with the conclusion of the fellowship contract, an accumulated period of three years under this type of scholarship, continuous or not continuously calculated. The calculation of the three years period considers also all the host entities to which the Doctorate has been linked to by a postdoctoral fellowship. Legislation and other applicable regulations: Research Fellowship Holder Statute enacted by Law no. 40/2004 of August 18th, as amended; FCT Research Grants Regulation, approved by way of Regulation nr. 950/2019, published in the II Series of DR of December 16th, 2019; INEB Research Grants Regulation. Workplace: The research activities will be hosted at INEB/i3S, under the scientific coordination of Professor Cristina Martins. Duration: The duration of the fellowship is 6 months. The expected starting date is July 2021. Monthly maintenance stipend: ?1.646,00, according to the values table of FCT, at Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/docs/Tabela_Valores_SMM_LOE_2021.pdf). The payments will be made by bank transference. Research grants may also include other components, as the voluntary social insurance, under the terms of the Research Fellowship Holder Statute, article 10. Evaluation Criteria: The selection will be based on the scientific merit and research capacity of the candidates and will encompass two stages: 1) curricular evaluation (100%) through the analysis of the applicant´s CV (40%), research experience with relevance for the project work plan (50%) and motivation letter (20%); 2) the 3 most highly ranked candidates will be invited to an interview. (Final score: 50% curricular evaluation, 50% interview). The final classification system for candidates is expressed on a scale from 0 to 100. Evaluation Panel: President ?
