Securitisation Transaction Analyst Full-time

About the job


This is an entry-level role for a candidate with sufficient academic background and an ambition to develop their career in risk management within a corporate/investment banking context. The successful candidate will be provided on the job training and be exposed heavily to securitization portfolios, structured finance transactions and products, fundamentals of risk analysis and monitoring, and credit committee decision process for large and/or complex transactions, thus providing a critical springboard for future career path. Typical transaction size ranges between EUR 200m to EUR 500m; and in certain cases can go well in excess of EUR 1bn.


Your Main Activities Are


The full range of responsibilities of the analyst, as they progress with on the job training will include:


  • Performance review of assigned transaction portfolios following the template of past transaction reviews that have already been undertaken. This activity provides a critical training platform for reviewing new transactions in due course.


  • Assist Senior Securitisation Risk Analysts and Senior Credit Officers in undertaking new transaction reviews.


  • Upon sufficient training and based on level of knowledge, actively contribute to new transaction analysis.


  • In all cases of transaction analysis (performance review, new transactions) make recommendations to credit committees for credit decisions.


  • Perform all necessary end-to-end committee approval process related functions with respect to annual reviews, portfolio reviews and quarterly Watch List & Doubtful Debt Committees. These include collating RISK Opinions, preparing committee agendas, and minutes, processing workflow in relevant systems.


  • Review and validate regulatory capital parameters for transactions in scope.


  • Maintain and improve derivative exposure override process.


  • Schedule yearly activity calendar for new trade and periodic review of portfolios (annual reviews, quarterly portfolio reviews, quarterly Watch List and Doubtful Debt Committees).


  • Produce periodic KRI reports


  • Contribute to periodic reporting of securitisation exposure and market trends to senior risk management, ensuring robust data quality and integrity.


  • PASCAL (?Portal for Automated Securitisation Credit Approval? ? internal workflow and regulatory capital parameters validation tool): User Acceptance Testing whenever there is a development, prior to the release.


  • Undertake other ad hoc or newly established additional responsibilities that contribute to the mission of the Lisbon hub.


Profile and Skills to Success


  • Degree in Finance, Business, Math or Financial Engineering. Advanced degree would be a plus.


  • Language: Fluency in English (verbal and written) is essential.


  • Experience:


    • Work experience in a professional organization, ideally in similar banking environment.


    • Basic knowledge of securitisation techniques, products and asset classes.


    • Quantitative data analysis and reporting skills demonstrated via advanced academic programmes, or relevant work experience schemes.


    • Qualitative report writing skills synthesizing analytical findings and interpretations.


    • Problem solving


    • Experienced in using MS Office tools. VBA/coding/cash flow modelling, bespoke data analytics tools experience would be an advantage, but not essential.


  • Good interpersonal and relationship building skills


  • Capacity for critical thinking and express opinions


  • Ability to work effectively in an autonomous way and in a team environment


  • Self-starter, with an innovative spirit and technological-solutions based mind-set


About the Team


  • The RISK Corporate Securitisation (RCS) team within RISK Corporates is a transversal team responsible for:


  • Analysis of new activities and exceptional transactions that use securitisation-structuring technology, primarily but not exclusively originated by the CIB.


  • Exercising Credit delegation when on boarding or reviewing credit and counterparty risk.


  • Representing RISK in Capital Markets underwriting activities and other Transaction Approval Committees and New Activity Committees.


  • Developing frameworks for risk management of activities in scope.


  • Undertaking centralised roles associated with, a.o., ABS legacy book management, contributing to Cost of Risk computation and Stress Testing for securitisation portfolios.


  • RCS is present regionally in EMEA (London, Brussels, Lisbon) and in New York.


  • The team in Lisbon functions as an important nearshoring hub that supports the operations of the core RISK teams located in London and New York. The hub was set up in order to centralize several operational responsibilities of RCS including, a.o., portfolio reviews, annual reviews and tasks associated with governance and operational risk control (e.g., KRI report production).


  • Transactions covering the entire spectrum of risks on boarded within Securitised Products Group within Capital Markets, across EMEA, Asset Finance & Securitisations within APAC and Americas regions, as well as securitisation swaps structured by Primary Credit Markets within Global Markets. The types of transactions include, a.o.,: bridge facilities, warehouse lines, ABS investments, backstop liquidity facilities for ABS and ABCP financing, and derivatives (e.g. Balance Guaranteed Swaps).
