The Associação para o Desenvolvimento da Aerodinâmica Industrial (ADAI) opens a tender for the award of one (1) Research Grant for a PhD holder in the framework of the Scientific Research and Technological Development Project (IC&DT) VESPRA ? ?Vulnerable Elements in Spain and Portugal and Risk Assessment? (Grant Agreement ECHO/2020/101004896), funded by the European Commission (EC), through the R&D program UCPM-2020 for the Prevention and Preparedness Projects for Civil Protection and Marine Pollution.

Admission Requirements:

PhD holders may submit an application to this call. The candidates should preferably have expertise in data analysis and management, evaluation, modelling and mapping of vulnerable elements of wildfires. The scientific production will be valued, including scientific publications in international journals, as well as the ability to speak and write in Portuguese and English.

Work Plan:

The selected candidate will develop tasks in the field of wildfires, namely identification, analysis, mapping and description of vulnerable elements. Tasks include:

1) Search and identification of vulnerable elements and their classification;

2) Analysis of data bases and reports of national and international occurrences about vulnerabilities;

3) Identification and analysis of data concerning affected vulnerable elements in major wildfires ;

4) Search of vulnerability models in wildfires and their adaptation to the project;

5) Gathering, analysis and exploration of collected elements, as described in the previous tasks, in order to be used for project platform;

6) Participation in other tasks related to wildfires that may be considered as relevant;

7) Production of scientific reports and articles based on the work developed;

8) Participation in the dissemination tasks and appreciation of the results obtained.

Workplace:

The work will be developed at the facilities of the ADAI, specifically in the Laboratório de Aerodinâmica Industrial (LAI), R. Pedro Hispano 12, 3030-790 Coimbra, Portugal, under the scientific supervision of Doctor Miguel Abrantes de Figueredo Bernardo de Almeida and Professor Doctor Domingos Xavier Filomeno Carlos Viegas. Often, it will be necessary to travel, using transport provided by ADAI, to the Laboratory for Forest Fires Studies, at Aeródromo da Lousã - Coimbra, or to other places that may be of interest for the development of the tasks.

Scholarship duration:

The scholarship will last for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal during the duration of the project, according to the grantee's performance, on an exclusive basis, according to FCT's advanced human resources training regulation.

Amount of monthly maintenance allowance:

The amount of the scholarship corresponds to ? 1646.00, according to the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the Country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt.

Selection methods:

The selection methods to be used will be: curriculum evaluation and remote interview. Selection criteria and the evaluation parameters will be as follows: a) 40% for scientific component of curricular evaluation, including academic qualifications and scientific production and other indicators; b) 50% for the degree of satisfaction of knowledge and experience requirements; c) 10% for interview performance. If none of the candidates has the appropriate profile (overall assessment below 50%), the scholarship will not be awarded.

Form of publicity / notification of results:

The final results of the evaluation will be publicized, through a list ordered by final grade obtained, and the candidates will be notified via email.
